"MY BELOVED SON"
Joseph Odinikpo Ezeudu
In the above bible passages, we see the word Son appearing in all of them. To the best of my understanding, there are basically two types of Sons in the bible. The first one being the type in the book of John 1:12 " But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name". The second one is in the book of Romans 8:14 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God" The one in John 1:12 is talking about someone who had just had the new birth experience in Christ. The one in Romans is telling us of a matured Son, that has been Born Again and has continued in yielding to the leadership of the Spirit of God which will in turn make such a one a matured Son.
The above apart, we want to see what God is really saying when He calls Jesus His "Beloved Son" in the passages above. For better understanding, permit me to use the text in Mark 9:7 "And there was a cloud that overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud saying, this is my beloved Son, hear ye him". As we all see from those passages, God is making a declaration that Jesus is His Beloved Son. We all know the story, but God will like to "open our eyes of understanding" to the reason why He used the word Son and not any other word.
Who is a Son
?We all know that a Son is a male child. A son is the opposite of a daughter. A son grows up to be a man, husband and then father as the case may be.
Why Son?
Let us take it from the human angle and that will give us understanding in the spirit realm. At least we are humans with the spirit of God.
No wonder God called Jesus his Son. The bible says in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but shall have everlasting life". In the book of Matthew 1:21 "And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins" When Steven was being stoned to death, he look up and whom did he see, the Son of God. He needs not see any other because they will not be able to help. When you are converted to Christ and is being led by the Spirit of God, you are no other person in the spirit realm but a Son of God, that is the way God sees you and me. And it is time we should see ourselves in the same way.
Also the reason is that at creation, man was made up of male and female. A woman is therefore a Man with a womb (wombman) Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He Him Male and female created He them".
In the beginning God had only Sons living with Him in heaven (Genesis 6:2) "That the Sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and they took them wives of all which they choose". The bible tells us that in Proverbs 3:1 of the advise of a mother to a Son. Also in 1 John 4:15 the word of God says that those that confess that Jesus is the Son of has God in them. In the same book of 1 John 3:2 still talking to little children of which I am sure is made up of male and female, the writer sums everything up. He said now, that we are born again, are we the Sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be; but we know that, when we shall appear, we shall be like him (He is the Son of God), for we shall see Him as He is.
A wife that did not bear a son in African context of the old can be returned to the family where she was married from no matter how many daughters she has for the husband and is assumed not to have been married to the man in the first instance. It is assumed that she has no child at all.
In a way God applies the same format as above. Do not ask why, I might not be able to tell you. Watch it, any child that is born with the miracle of God attached to it, comes out being a son. Look at Samson, Samuel, Moses, and John the Baptist, Joshua and the host of others.
In the book of Luke 23:28 Jesus said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children" and the only child that Jesus handed over to his earthly mother was a Son (John 19:27). We are meant to understand that twelve women (daughters) will be begging a Son to marry them.
In the world today, the daughters are mostly trying to look like the Sons (do you see them dressing like Sons?) No wonder why someone said that God gave his only begotten son so that he can have more Sons.
CAN FATHER CALL YOU HIS SON?
